Title: | Stop clocks post contrast waiting time. | Authors: | Grossman K. | Monash Health Department(s): | Radiology | Institution: | (Grossman) Radiology, Monash Health, Clayton, VIC, Australia, 3168. | Issue Date: | 7-Apr-2022 | Copyright year: | 2022 | Abstract: | Patients need to wait for at least 15 minutes after having a contrast injection for CT scans. They are to be monitored for any sign of allergic reaction post contrast. After minimum time of monitoring, if there is no sign of reaction they can have the cannula removed and leave. Due to the busy nature of the imaging department, once the patient was seated for their minimum 15mins of post contrast monitoring there were several reocurring issues: patients and staff not knowing how long they had been waiting for, getting the attention of a passing staff member to decannulate and see the patient out if the patient knew their time was up. This was not an ideal patient experience which the team recognized and tried out various possible solutions. The imaging team did further brainstorming and came up with the successful solution along with some patient entertainment | Conference Name: | Monash Health Consumer Participation Poster Competition | URI: | https://repository.monashhealth.org/monashhealthjspui/handle/1/53525 | Type: | Poster | Subjects: | imaging patient experience |
